Kislaya Guba

[edit]

As I know the Kislaya Guba is situated in the Barentz sea not in the While. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.248.232.16 (talkcontribs)

Good catch. Thanks for editing that. --NormanEinstein 14:03, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Context map

[edit]
Map of the White Sea

The existing map (Image:White Sea map.png|Map of the White Sea) does a good job of illustrating the details of the bays, gulfs and significant communities of the White Sea, as well as of the peninsulas that jut into it. It would be helpful however to have a larger contextual map in the article that would help the encyclopedia reader to place the White Sea in the broader global (and maybe even national political) context. I think the inset map placing it in Europe already does that, I'm not sure what a global one would add on top of that. Kmusser (talk) 02:19, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. No more maps are needed. Bazonka (talk) 10:28, 30 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

Why is it called "white"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 119.11.20.221 (talk) 04:10, 25 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Because of the ice I guess. It should be mentioned in the article. --Little sawyer (talk) 21:43, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You can't mention something in the article based on a guess, it needs a proper citation. Bazonka (talk) 07:53, 3 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This should have a link to Mediterranean Sea, which is also called the White Sea in several languages, e.g. Arabic, Turkish. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.3.101.34 (talk) 21:04, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

World War 2 History?

[edit]

Just curious, was there any notable strategic use for the White Sea during WW2? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Schnitzi (talkcontribs) 12:01, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
