Eyewitness News graphics update

[edit]

It seems like as of today (May 25, 2008), WABC changed their graphics package and tweaked their logo (the ABC logo and the circle 7 has a different bevel and light reflection effect). Think the article here is due for a tweak in due time.

Philly?

[edit]

I would not doubt if they pool stories with Philly to get NJ news, but I hardly ever see Philly's stations on screen unless it is for southern NJ. I never see or hear anything about Philly on 7 anytime. I think this is just another attempt at Philly to force itself into the NYC area. Philly is it's own market it is own major city. The only time Philly news is on 7 is when it is national. I have never seen a major city fight so hard to be down with another market. Are things that bad in Philly? Maybe they don't like being seen as being down with DC, DE, NJ and MD? You can't have it all. Be thankful that you are a major city with your own identity.--71.235.81.32 15:01, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Eyewitness News...HD?

[edit]

According to this forum post, WABC for some reason, started broadcasting the studio shots during Eyewitness News in 16:9 HD. Not even the graphics changed, and unlike KABC, the newscast didn't rebrand themself as "Eyewitness News HD" just yet.

Should this weird occurance be noted in the article? ViperSnake151 13:06, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This was more of a news story of the time than an event of lasting, encyclopedic significance in my opinion. Anyone else see it that way? Rlquall 04:09, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was thinking the same thing. It's time to delete that section. Rollosmokes 08:05, 8 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

With the introduction of WABC's new graphic package, they have an updated logo, with a glossier ABC portion, and a 3-d circle seven. I think the logo at the top of the page deserves an update at some point.Deemers (talk) 03:33, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eyewitness News Screenshot

[edit]

I captured a screenshot of the open, as it effectively illustrates the news operations section. The screenshot, fits under the fair use criteria for television screenshots, so how come it was taken down due to a policy. What is this policy then? I think the screenshot is of value to the article, and such screenshot are currently used in other television station articles, such as the KYW-TV article. I would like understand the reasoning of this change. Deemers (talk) 18:02, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have added a licenceing tag to it that validates it's use as a Non-Free Television Screenshot that helps identify the article. Therefore, this image is of fair-use rationale in this article. May I put it back up then?Deemers (talk) 23:28, 4 June 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Deemers (talkcontribs) 23:25, 4 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WABC building

[edit]

Has someone some info about the building on 77 West 66th Street, itself.. or the entire block owned by ABC ? I'm looking for the architect, year of construction, height, superficy... in order to perhaps create a separate article. --GdGourou - °o° - Talk to me 09:42, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

ABC News has their main HQ next door to the WABC building. It was mentioned in several news articles since it was also evacuated when the studio caught on fire. Across the street from it is the core of Lincoln Center and they have the unofficial address of 7 Lincoln Center. I believe it was built around 1979, the original news studio was much larger with extra desks for the sports anchor, weather and another reporter for a featured story. It shrunk down to it's current size after Regis came over and they basically built a NYC apartment with room for an audience for his new show "The Morning Show' (The original studio for Live had things like a living room, a full kitchen, a bedroom, a ceiling that looked like a skylight, and the patio behind host chat was more of a balcony with a backdrop of other buldings at midlevel as opposed to the current ground level backdrop). I don't know how many floors, but the 4th floor is home to the newsroom, the 2nd or 3rd floor has offices for Regis and Kelly. (If you can find the episode from several years ago where they talked about renovating their office they give the specific floor). The studios are on the first floor and their lighting, vents and other stuff take up most of what would be the 2nd and 3rd floors so the usable office space on those floors is small compared to the newsroom on the fourth floor. Some of the blog entries on their site written right after the fire have more details about the layout.Kyl416 (talk) 23:52, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Eyewitness News This Morning 4:30am-7am

[edit]

WABC-TV has announced that it would start Eyewitness News This Morning from 4:30AM-7AM, beginning on September 7, 2010. What's going to happen to ABC's America This Morning will they take it off the schedule or will they air it at, 4:00AM. I don't what's going to happen. 74.102.182.211 (talk) 16:56, 30 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

While the listings still don't reflect this, they now air America This Morning at 4amKyl416 (talk) 23:52, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Eyewitness News Now

[edit]

In the article, it states "The newscasts are replayed on one of channel 7's digital subchannels, which also carries a local weather and news channel. WABC-TV's website has a link for live streaming video of "Eyewitness News Now", which offers live local and national weather updated from AccuWeather." which may no longer be accurate.

Once "Live Well" began, the local newscast repeats vanished. There was also a recent announcement that ENN, containing the local Accuweather forecasts will be shut down by the end of the month and replaced with a standard definition simulcast of the Live Well HD channel.

--96.250.187.224 (talk) 03:24, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ENN was shut down, both over the air and on cable. The local weather and also updates from AccuWeather are both gone and replaced with a simulcast of LiveWell which has no news content. The article is out of date by referring to ENN in the present tense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.88.88.200 (talk) 18:26, 25 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article is out of date as it refers to weather and news on the subchannel, which is no longer in operation. The page was edited to make it past tense, but those edits were deleted and the page again refers to programming that does not exist, and has not existed, in the present tense. Why put in something that is not correct, up to date and true?

Adding unreferenced entries of former employees to lists containing BLP material

[edit]

Hello, Please do not add unreferenced names as entries to the list of former employees in articles. Including this type of material in articles does not abide by current consensus and its inclusion is strongly discouraged in our policies and guidelines. The rationales are as follows:

  1. WP:NOT tells us, Wikipedia is "not an indiscriminate collection of information." As that section describes, just because something is true, doesn't necessarily mean the info belongs in Wikipedia.
  2. As per WP:V, we cannot include information in Wikipedia that is not verifiable and sourced.
  3. WP:NLIST tells us that lists included within articles (including people's names) are subject to the same need for references as any other information in the article.
  4. Per WP:BLP, we have to be especially careful about including un-sourced info about living persons.

If you look at articles about companies in general, you will not find mention of previous employees, except in those cases where the employee was particularly notable. Even then, the information is not presented just as a list of names, but is incorporated into the text itself (for example, when a company's article talks about the policies a previous CEO had, or when they mention the discovery/invention of a former engineer/researcher). If a preexisting article is already in the encyclopedia for the person you want to add to a list, it's generally regarded as sufficient to support their inclusion in list material in another article. cheers Deconstructhis (talk) 11:27, 30 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Michael who?

[edit]

Is it fair to say it's best known for the current version of Live with Regis and Kathie Lee? No. That was a rhetorical question.

Just figured this may be controversial, or someone has a better way to word it. So here's a section. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:41, 16 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reorganization

[edit]

I took some initiative and reorganized much of the article. I moved programming carried and produced by WABC into one section. The "digital transition" section may have made sense a decade ago, but at this point it's just one event in the history of the station.

I don't know if there has been long, spirited debate on the organization of TV station articles, but the previous organization made little to no sense at this point. I am sure there are further improvements to be made, especially in the news operations section. Jbbdude (talk) 17:02, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
