Canadian-side discharge/flow stats

[edit]

Due to research on Talk:Fraser River a number of hydrologic info sites/links for Canadian monitoring stations have been found; not all of these work, but there's one for Taku River near Tulsequah but the one for Taku River near Juneau doesn't seem to be working. These can be found on this list of monitoring stations which you'll note has an alphebetical directory at the top for looking for other rivers' information. These are found through Water Survey Canada. Fisheries info should be available from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), which is probably http://www.dfo.gov.ca but that's just a guess.Skookum1 (talk) 15:51, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I Couldn't get at the graphs and archived data for Taku River near Juneau, but as you can see I found a table of 2008 flow statistics. The similar page for Taku River near Tulsequah is here, though it's for 1987....note that the Juneau station has only been reporting sincde 1988, while the Tulsequah one is since 1953 or so.....presumably the "near Juneau" station is within Canada rather than in Alaska, unless there's some kind of joint project between the two countries...which in general is not all that common.Skookum1 (talk) 16:02, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Highway proposal

[edit]

I only know about this from rumour but I know the BC government has been in occasional talks with the State of Alaska about building road links for Juneau, Ketchikan and Wrangell; in Juneau's case this would necessarily mean along the Taku....I don't know if there are any feasibility studies out there which might be citable but there might be a news item or two.Skookum1 (talk) 15:51, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mouth Coincides With Canadian Border?

[edit]

From what I can see, the point at which Taku River appears to flow into Taku Inlet (that point which would otherwise be referred to as the "mouth") is a good ten miles west of the Canadian border. How does that "coincide?"--Mfwills (talk) 20:25, 21 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
