Article biased?

[edit]

I think it could be argued that this article is biased. What mistakes has Stephen Sample made as President? What could be better about the University of Southern California system? What sacrifies has he been willing to have U. of S. Ca. make in order to engineer these changes? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.188.66 (talk) 05:01, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article is not necessarily biased, but provides information that has been sourced with references. It is just that no one has taken the time to locate and include information that may provide a potentially more balanced perspective. I agree that is needed, though it just has not been done. That is an area that someone can work on. Daniellagreen (talk) 17:33, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

More details needed

[edit]

He is reportedly also an outdoorsman and musician. Can you add details? Can you add some of his research interested and scholarly publications? TruthbringerToronto (Talk | contribs) 04:22, 4 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

At the time of my work on this article, information about research has been added, although most of it has not been sourced and needs to be. Daniellagreen (talk) 17:33, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Inventions

[edit]

I remember hearing that his work at Purdue and other places (he's been an administrator for many years now) involved the buttons on microwaves, but that isn't specific --I hope it will help someone with better access to information. I had that leadership class with him (and Bennis) when I was a senior. --Bobak 00:42, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I included information and a reference related to Sample's invention of the touch pads on microwaves; it is in his UB presidential biography. Thanks, Daniellagreen (talk) 17:33, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy

[edit]

Under the controversy section if I remember correctly, though the students took his office over, it was not Sample who told them to leave or face suspension it was another member of the administration. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Peciv (talkcontribs) 08:30, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The controversy section is not noteworthy -- he comes under fire by a dozen or so extremist students, not the entire university, and I am removing it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.156.86 (talkcontribs) 08:14, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Including the controversy section, however, was an opportunity to present a more balanced perspective. It was an event that occurred; it should be potentially maintained rather than just removed without opening it up to commentary on Wikipedia. Daniellagreen (talk) 17:33, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

University "of" Buffalo

[edit]

I'm not sure if that is even a school--at least I've never heard of it. Do they mean SUNY at Buffalo? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Revolition (talkcontribs) 07:01, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, in fact, UB is a school, and a very noteworthy one at that. The University of Buffalo, University at Buffalo, UB - they are all the State University of New York at Buffalo, or SUNY Buffalo. I hope that provides clarification. Daniellagreen (talk) 17:33, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Rating upgrade

[edit]

For the past couple of days, I have invested substantial time into this article to correctly reference it, source existing information as much as possible, add information and details, and include more references and citations. The article is now rated as 'Start' class. I have also answered all of the above questions, and included topic headers where they were missing. Categories involving New York State, California, and education related to those states can also be included. I'll see what I can find. Daniellagreen (talk) 17:33, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
