History of the Linz

[edit]

The book "Die Geschichte des Weltkriegs", Band III, Wien, Verlag für vaterländische Literatur GesmbH; writes in an artikle by frigate captains Lengnick and Braun on page 89: On Mai 12th (1918) the Lloyd ship Linz left with 1200 passengers (to Durazzo). Two italian MAS attacked the ship. The Linz sets up on a sand bank, then lays to a side. There are 229 deaths. Torpedo boat 84 and 98 as well as destroyer Dukla cover the boat. On March 19th, the book mentions that the Lloyd ship Bregenz is torpedoed near Cap Rodoni by a submarine, only 342 of 1003 persons on board can be saved by destroyer Balaton and torpedo boat 98. Are you sure that the sinking in March concerned the SS Linz?--JohannesHeidecker (talk) 16:18, 12 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Ship of Dreams by Gareth Russell seems to confirm that it was sunk by a mine, not attacked and beached.Thats Just Great (talk) 16:23, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Date of sinking

[edit]

I changed the date to 20 February 1918 as that is what the only source says. -- Thats Just Great (talk) 16:23, 20 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
