Notes

[edit]

The year of the Rooster is called the year of the chicken in Japan, deriving from the original "Year of the bird."

--Since this is traditionally known as Chinese astrology, don't you think "Rooster" is more appropriate than "chicken"?--

In general, 2005 will be much the same as 2004, but without the water element to soothe things. Unfinished business will carry over and conclude in this year.

Roosters are cocky animals, perfectionists who want clean homes, and they are very straight-forward. Detail-oriented, they seem to see everything and will catch anyone not being straight with them. They also tend to be well-dressed and particular about their appearance.

The last year of the Rooster was in 1993, so Roosters will be turning 12, 24, 36, 48, 60, and 72 during 2005.

!!By now the last Rooster year was 2005!!

Article name

[edit]

The Chinese name for this concept means year of the Rooster, and that seems like a better name for this article. Pekinensis 03:59, 2 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Rooster Celebrity list

[edit]

The celebrity list for the Rooster sign is way, way too long. I feel I should be cut down to a size comparable to all the rest (Rat, Tiger, Dragon, etc etc). If anyone has objections please speak up. If nobody speaks up within the next few days I will shorten the list and take off the "wood Rooster". "Metal Rooster" etc etc and make the list one of Roosters, just like the rest. It's way too long and detailed. TheGoodson 12:04, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The elements are very helpful. If the other lists are too short for you, do the research and expand upon them!

I vote for making a new article, List of Celebrities Sign (chinese zodiac) - with a list of famous persons of all signs (separeted by sign/element), something like the List of games Daniel Leite 04:25, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Since no one protested and I agree with you, I boldly went ahead and created the Category Category:List_of_Celebrities_(Chinese_Zodiac) and the subcategories for each sign. I'm currently adding the categories to the current Year of the Dog celebrities (I will remove the section afterwards, replacing it with a link).
Now, it would be great if you and all the other regulars (Maestro, VeronicaPR, IrishPearl etc.) would each take a Zodiac Sign and do the same, since it would take ages to do this alone. Teshik 12:40, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Split contested, candidate for deletion

[edit]

Hrmpf. In the very minute I finally got the Dog article finished, the new categories were put up into the Deletion candidates. Go here for details, and please tell if you want the categories kept, deleted, or if you got another suggestion entirely. I've stopped editing for now. Teshik 15:00, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Title change to Rooster

[edit]

This is a request, reason aforementioned in "Notes". Raistuumum

Chinese Character

[edit]

I thought the Chinese symbol for 'Year of the Rooster' was 酉, as apposed to 酉, which just means 'Rooster'. I could be wrong though. Could somebody please verify which is correct. Sadako No Deshi 18:59, 18 July 2006 (BST)

I do not know who you are, but you have posted this on all of the zodiac pages. I think you are just trying to cause trouble because it's all copy & pasted. Here you showed your mistake because 酉 and 酉 are the same symbol. Please do not try to change.

Agreed

[edit]

I searched "Year of the Rooster" and was redirected to "Year of the chicken" which had a link back to "Year of the Rooster"—that's quite roundabout. I think it would just be easier to go to "Year of the Rooster" directly and have the fact that it's "chicken" in the Japanese variant noted (similarly to the way that it's noted in the article for "Year of the Rabbit" that in Vietnamese it's "Year of the cat").

remove list of people

Season

[edit]

If the month associated with Roosters is September, why is the season associated Autumn? If I'm not mistaken, aren't the first three weeks of September Summer and not Autumn...?--Tainted Drifter 11:40, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I have factual links that tell you the meaning of the Chinese zodiac Rabbit, etc. They are not advertising anything personal. I feel they may help the site. If you do not believe so, remove them. They were previously posted on two articles. I want to combine them and post them on each horoscope, Including this one. Ariyen (talk) 13:17, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lack of citation

[edit]

This article lacks any citation, I can see. Things like "IDEAL JOBS INCLCUDE" and "Traditional Rooster Attributes/Associations" seem like they should be cited. Meojive (talk) 18:20, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The cock

[edit]

This sign is usually called the cock. Wouldn't it be better to refer to the sign as the cock than the Rooster? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 161.28.164.47 (talk) 15:14, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
