Merging Nokia 3, 3.1 & 3.1 Plus Articles

[edit]

I am looking into the possibility of merging Nokia 3, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 3.1 Plus. The creation of three permanent stub articles can be better served with one better class article. Otr500 (talk) 14:10, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose I think the Nokia 3, 3.1 and 3.1 plus are better of remaining as separate articles. There would be little benefit to combining them as the phones have a lot of differences. I think it's better to keep the articles separate to be consistent with all the other Nokia phones articles on Wikipedia. There was a discussion a few months ago about merging the Nokia 2, 2.1 & 2.2 articles but we decided not to for similar reasons. What do you think about the Nokia 3.2, and future phones 3.x phones after that, are you proposing they should also be merged? FormularSumo (talk) 17:30, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. I don't see the point of a merge. These are different devices, with different hardware specifications, released at different times. While their names include the same digit, they're not variants of a single base model.

It's not clear at all what improvements consolidation would bring to the table. It certainly wouldn't increase the informational value, since stub+stub+stub is still just three stubs, now they're just stuck together. In fact, overall value would most likely decrease, since the infoboxes would probably be gone.

If there's an actual desire to expand and improve the coverage of these devices, it can be done in their respective articles. Furthermore, an article about a phone series can be created without merging/deleting articles on individual devices. --Veikk0.ma 22:25, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • FormularSumo and Veikk0.ma: Thanks for the info. This is why it is sometimes better to inquire instead of just going to a merge request. The stub+stub+stub aspect wasn't real convincing but the previous merge discussion, being actually different devices, points concerning future phones, and the loss of infoboxes are reasonable.
