I worked in Administration at Brown when Ira was a student there. While I appreciate the quality of the article as it now stands, I think this underestimates his contribution to the university. With the anger of the late 60s on campus, if Ira had not used his charisma to channel protests into peaceful activity, much more destructive student disturbances would have been likely. Also the new curriculum strongly enhanced Brown's attractiveness among the best of the best among college applicants. Some would accuse him of being a leftist rabble rouser. Perhaps so.
