Razor Gangs in the 1980s??? Shurely shome mishtake??? I used to live there in the late 60's and early 70's, and those days were a bit before then...94.13.205.202 (talk) 21:00, 29 January 2012 (UTC)Lance Tyrell[reply]

Derivation…

[edit]

As the article states that the origin of the name is unclear, that the Scots root could be one of a number of possibilities, and that a Gaelic root is, whilst possible, not very likely, is it necessary to give a Scots derivation in the intro which isn’t included later, and a prominent Gaelic root which may only be nineteenth century speculation? Jock123 (talk) 18:04, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No it's not necessary. It's part of an odd trend that seems to have taken over articles on Scottish place names to include a Scots/Gaelic approximation of the name (presumably to back up a certain brand of nationalist ideology).

still controversial?

[edit]

The final paragraph in the 'history' section referrers to 'The Brazen Head' pub as controversial, citing a 15 year old article in the Daily Telegraph. Looking at the pubs FB page, although clearly strongly associated with Celtic FC its seems to be getting very good reviews and serves quality food. Maybe the word 'famous' would be a better description.86.138.42.45 (talk) 15:00, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Annan pic

[edit]

I discovered the Thomas Annan picture was mislabelled: The one labelled as Looking South was actually Looking North. I've fixed this on Commons, and just put both in for now; feel free to choose one if you like, though I don't think they're doing any harm together.
