[edit]Amateur boxing divisions are a little bit different than professional heavyweight. Up to 201 is a heavyweight. Over 201 lbs (above 91 kg) and above is considered a super heavyweight. There is no super heavyweight in professional boxing, even though boxing organizations wanted to create this additional fourth heavyweight division. Do we know the dates? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.107.0.227 (talk) 20:27, August 10, 2007 amateur doesn't have a class called cruiserweight, like the pros, so don't get hung up on the names of the classes. in amateurs, superheavy was created in 1948, but the classes change from time to time and i don't remember any of the classes being exactly the same in amateur as pros, and as long as i can remember there have been many more pro classes than amateur. in the 80's i remember 12 amateur classes and in the 90's at some point they cut it to 10. one weird thing about this page is that they still mention AAU as somehow being involved in boxing in the united states and it has been decades since AAU has had anything to do at all with boxing. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.98.204.251 (talk) 11:07, 28 May 2012 (UTC)
