Two points to call to attention:

  • I'm sure there should be a mention somewhere that the Harry Potter films use Alnwick castle for the exterior shots (with extra towers CGI'd in, of course). I'm not sure where it should go, though...
Probably in the Alnwick Castle page. Which is where it can be found. Does Wikipedia have a principle of subsidiarity? Who knows.--Tagishsimon (talk)
  • Alnwick isn't well within commuting distance of Newcastle unless you habitually get up at 6AM. I don't want to change it since I don't commute from Alnwick to Newcastle, but if someone else can confirm this then it should be changed.
It's 30 miles. One hour by car at peak times. 25 minutes by train from Alnmouth. I used to commute occasionally. The council considers it well within. What can I say. Take out the word Well if you want. --Tagishsimon (talk)

Population Problem

[edit]

this article contradicts itslef it says POPULATION 7100 and POPULATION 7600 i was looking at some population statistics, however, from a statistician based in the NE, Yan Che Shek, and neither of these figures add up with his data available on his webpages. Can some one fix this error, and provide some citation to the appropriate geographical literature. Many thanks.

Odinel de Umfraville

[edit]

I have some info in my family tree that I am trying to verify about the capture of William The Lion. I have found conflicting stories about who was there. Could someone please help me out. The info I have places Ralf de Glanvil (Ralph De Glanville) and troops as the capturer but the Alnwick page names someone else. if anyone has any info could you please forward it to me. thx Randywilliams1975 23:09, 25 July 2007 (UTC) [1][reply]

County Town Controversy

[edit]

Alnwick is not the county town of Northumberland. Morpeth is the administrative centre of Northumberland as the County Hall offices are located in Morpeth. Furthermore, the law courts were formerly in Morpeth and therefore Morpeth also has a historical judicial function. The law courts are now in Bedlington. In summation, Alnwick has no claim to the title of county town based on the definition of a county town.

Country Life magazine for October 2002 was not sourced correctly.

The following news article explains why Morpeth is county town.

Encyclopaedia Britannica 1911

[edit]

Here (http://www.1911encyclopedia.org/Alnwick) is the Encyclopaedia Britannica 1911 article for Alnwick, which suggests "historic County Town" is about right. 92.238.177.48 (talk) 11:43, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dirty Bottles

[edit]

Is there a reason that these don't get a mention? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.38.78.139 (talk) 22:16, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
