Suggestions

Just wanted to note that you've received a belated reply at Wikibooks:Featured_books/Nominations#suggestions_for_Na'vi. I know you spend most of your time at Wikipedia and so wanted to give you a heads-up. -- Adrignola talk contribs 03:22, 6 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Map?

[edit source]

I notice you've been involved with some sort of disagreement recently involving maps about the Russian language. Earlier today I put a one-month semi-protection on a couple of pages here, on the theory that disputants in such a disagreement should declare who they are. I admit I'm quite curious to understand better what's going on. From your perspective, what's this disagreement about? --Pi zero (discusscontribs) 12:29, 26 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

The other map shows countries where Russian is "spoken". But how are they selected? Russian is spoken in Antarctica and the USA. I changed it to de facto working language per Ethnologue; the only real change was removing Israel (there's also an ongoing argument about Mongolia). I'd be just as happy to have "spoken by > x% of the population" if we had a source for it. Or any other measure of where Russian is significant. Don't really care, but this edit-war has been going on for several years with no sign of reaching an agreement. Since I can't control maps I didn't create, I made a new one and switched articles over to that. Whichever map we use, it should be objective and follow RS's. (And doesn't color the entire world blue, as some language maps I've seen do.) —Kwami (discusscontribs) 11:51, 27 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

Na'vi question

[edit source]

I saw your work in the Na'vi dictionary, good stuff! I was looking for the word "flag" in Na'vi, and could’t find it. Would it be something like "srä le-sävll"? Tuvalkin (discusscontribs) 04:54, 31 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

That would depend on whether Frommer ever created the word. I'm sure this dict is out of date, but I don't know if that word's been added. —Kwami (discusscontribs) 05:18, 31 December 2020 (UTC)Reply
