Etymology
[edit]According to Schuessler (2007), 犩 (Later Han Chinese ŋuɨ) is the same etymon as 夔 (OC *grui ~ *gwrə) and was borrowed into Later Han Chinese from a Tibeto-Burman language, though ultimately from Proto-Sino-Tibetan *lwa:j (“buffalo”).
