[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *-mō, *-men-; compare Latvian -mens, Old Prussian -men, Proto-Slavic *-mę. From Proto-Indo-European *-mn̥, *-men-, a neuter nominalising suffix. Cognates include Latin -men, Ancient Greek -μᾰ (-ma), Old Armenian -ումն (-umn).
