    The suffix -itia is added to an adjective (or rarely a noun) to form an abstract first declension noun describing the condition of being something.

    Examples:
    dūrus (hard) + ‎-itia → ‎dūritia (hardness)
    laetus (happy) + ‎-itia → ‎laetitia (happiness)
    trīstis (sad) + ‎-itia → ‎trīstitia (sadness)
