[edit]From earlier *septmāginta, from Proto-Indo-European *septm̥̄ḱomt, from earlier *septḿ̥-dḱomt (“seven-ten”). Cognate with septem and Ancient Greek ἑβδομήκοντα (hebdomḗkonta).
