[edit]Cognate with Latvian kāre (“honeycomb”), and possibly also with Ancient Greek κηρός (kērós, “beeswax; honeycomb”), Latin cēra (“beeswax; honeycomb”), Albanian qiri (“candle”). Alternatively, could be related to karti (“to hang”).
