[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *dumˀtei,[1] from Proto-Indo-European *dʰemH-.[1]
Cognate with Polish dąć (“to blow”)[1][2] and Sanskrit धमति (dhámati, “to blow”).[1][2] See also dùmplės (“bellows”).
