Calque of German Blockflöte, from block +‎ flöjt. Cognate with Danish blokfløjte (whence also Greenlandic blokfløjte), Norwegian Bokmål blokkfløyte, Norwegian Nynorsk blokkfløyte and Icelandic blokkflauta.
