[edit]From Spanish arándano, blend of Hispano-Celtic *aran and Late Latin rodandarum, lorandrum, variants of Latin rhododendron, from Ancient Greek ῥοδόδενδρον (rhodódendron), from ῥόδον (rhódon, “rose”) + δένδρον (déndron, “tree”).
