Template:R:MED Online

From Wiktionary, the free dictionary

R:MED Online”, in MED Online, Ann Arbor, Mich.: University of Michigan, 2007.

Usage

This template may be used in "References" and "Further reading" sections, and on talk pages, for citing the Middle English Dictionary website (MED Online).

Parameters

The template takes the following parameters:

  • |1= or |entry= – the name of the entry on the MED Online website, and an abbreviation indicating the part of speech (see the examples below). If this parameter is omitted, the name of the Wiktionary entry is used as a default.
  • |2=, |pos=, or |part of speech= – the part of speech of the entry. By default, the template italicizes the value assigned to the parameter and adds a full stop (period) to the end. To turn off the default formatting for the purpose of specifying a different formatting using wikitext markup and templates, specify |noformat=1 or |noformat=yes: see the example below.
  • |3=, |code=, or |id=mandatory: the MED Online identification code for the entry which is in the form "MED" followed by a number. The code can be found in the URL.
  • |date= – the date of the MED Online entry webpage. If this parameter is omitted, the template defaults to "2007".
  • |4= or |accessdate= – the date when the MED Online webpage was accessed, in one of the following formats: 1 January 2017 or January 1, 2017
  • |subentry= – a term that appears as a subentry under an entry.
  • |subpos= – the part of speech of the subentry.
  • |5=, |text=, or |passage= – a passage quoted from the webpage.
  • |quotes= or |q= – To search words in quotations, use |quotes=1 or |quotes=yes.
  • |nodot= – by default, the template adds a full stop (period) at the end of the citation. To suppress this punctuation, use |nodot=1 or |nodot=yes.
