The definition currently takes the use of "militating against" for granted. This is unfortunate because the use of the word in which power or influence is used AGAINST some phenomenon is the more common way it is employed today. I will add (soon) a qualification to that effect to the definition and provide an example of "militate against". Most dictionaries already do. Myles325a 03:05, 5 November 2010 (UTC)
