ք lowercase (uppercase Ք)

  1. The 36th letter of Armenian alphabet, called քե (kʻe). Represents aspirated voiceless velar plosive: [kʰ]. Transliterated as kʿ (Hübschmann-Meillet-Benveniste) or k’ (ISO 9985).

Usage notes

This was the last letter of the original Armenian alphabet, hence the phrase այբ ու քե (ayb u kʻe, alpha and omega).

Usage notes

Only used before a front vowel; i.e., before one of է (e), ի (i), էօ (ö), իւ (ü). Modern Turkish etc. are represented as քեա etc., preserving the rule.
