Welcome to the 2007 Winter Simulation Conference (WSC), which is recognized as the premiere international conference for simulation professionals in discrete and combined discrete-continuous simulation. The conference theme, 40 Years: The Best is Yet to Come, invites you to reflect on the past while anticipating an exciting and innovative future. Join with us in celebrating a forty-year legacy of providing leading scientific contributions to the world through simulation technology. For the second year in a row the WSC'07 offers an intensive pre-conference workshop on simulation, Simulation 101, where participants learn about discrete-event simulation in a day-long setting that includes lectures and hands-on laboratory exercises. New this year is the Cross-Fertilization Track, which features world renowned experts sharing insights from related fields, and the Clinics Track for practitioners desiring guidance from a panel of simulation experts in solving recent problems. In celebration of a forty year heritage, WSC'07 also features ten ground-breaking papers designated as the Landmark Papers due to their significant scientific contribution to the field of simulation. WSC'07 continues with timely offerings in Health Care, Emergency Response/Homeland Security, and Case Studies from industry. We continue a legacy of providing high quality introductory and advanced tutorials and provide twenty-five tracks allowing one to focus on recent simulation technology in Industry, Government or the "cutting edge" of a specific research area. Vendor Tracks provide demonstrations of simulation software, tutorials, and opportunities to interact directly with vendors. WSC'07 also includes the Keynote Address (Dr. Susan Smyth of General Motors), the Military Keynote (John C. Deal of BAE Systems), a Ph.D. colloquium, and the Monday Evening Reception. For first time attendees, the Sunday Evening New Attendee Reception is a "don't miss" activity.
