An adaptive adjusting density scheme of small cell base stations in heterogeneous cell networks

Published: 15 January 2020 Publication History

Abstract

For satisfying the ever-increasing wireless data traffic requirement and quality of service (QoS) demand, it has been an integral structure of 5G wireless networks to densely deploy small cells with mm wave frequency band, which are often higher capacity and smaller coverage area than macro cell with cm wave frequency band, overlaying on macro cells and forming heterogeneous cellular networks (HetNets). But, the more density of small cells base stations (BSs), the more energy consumption and interference, then it is necessity to optimize the number of active small cell BSs in HetNets. This paper analysis the dynamic characteristic of users in HetNets, partitions the network state with probability, and proposes a small cell base station adaptive adjust running (BSAAR) scheme to optimize the number of activity small cell BSs. Numerical results verify the effectiveness of the scheme proposed in this paper.
