Searching cooking recipes by focusing on common ingredients

Published: 04 December 2017 Publication History

Abstract

Currently, many Web sites that provide cooking recipes are available on the Internet. Now, many people can upload their original recipes to such Web sites, so that a large number of users are able to search them and satisfy with their information needs. However, it is difficult for users to find the recipes they would like to cook because similar recipes have already been uploaded by different people. The fact that the Web sites do not have the capability to recognize the difference between recipes is the reason behind this issue. Therefore, the key requirement is to be able to find a well-known recipe from among similar ones, and therefore, identify the differences between the well-known recipe and other recipes the user may search for to satisfy their need for information. We also believe that this process will lead to an increase in users' cooking repertories.
In this paper, we propose a method for searching cooking recipes while considering the differences between each well-known recipe extracted from the category of cuisines. In this method, the well-known recipe is defined by focusing on common cooking ingredients.
