Standard based Personal Mobile Health Record System

Published: 04 January 2016 Publication History

Abstract

Major paradigm shift in healthcare industry was done when ONC announced meaningful use (MU) on the electronic health record (EHR) systems, namely from clinician-centered to patient-centered. The shift is based on some major concepts such as interoperability of patient records, continuity of care, and evidence-based treatment. In order to improve patient care and associated outcomes, each individual must have control over their own health information in its entirety. Such control may help provide connectivity among care providers and patient.
In this paper, we propose a personal mobile health record system that is based on currently available medical standards such as HL7, DICOM and SNOMED CT and cloud technologies that can help satisfy those major concepts in personal healthcare.
