Measurement of P2P Streaming System as Mobile Terminal Based on Simulation

Published: 21 November 2009 Publication History

Abstract

As the era of NGN comes, the combination of mobile communication and fixed internet becomes the great goal of communication personalization, namely mobile internet. So it is of sense to study the internet applications in mobile condition. In this paper, we focus on PPStream (PPS) system with UDP (U-PPS) and TCP (T-PPS) respectively for comparison in mobile environment, mainly through the simulation in which we change the private IP address of a PC with a particular frequency. We analyze the system performance as IP changes. We find that the mobile peer (MP) in U-PPS performs better than T-PPS in supporting mobility. As the limitation of our experiment condition, we think it is necessary to efficiently simulate peers’ geographical location change. We will discuss an idea of implementing the simulation on the DSN platform cooperated with China Mobile, to solve the problem in previous simulation and develop new applications.
