Simulation and Analysis of Derailment of Freight Train on Bridges

Published: 22 January 2010 Publication History

Abstract

Taking into account the connecting conditions of wheel-rail displacement and the influence of clearance between wheel flange and gauge line, the calculation model of the spatial vibration of train bridge system is established. The whole course of train derailment on bridges is calculated, and the vibration responses of train bridge system are calculated when train derails. The mechanism of train derailment on bridges is testified to be the loss of the lateral vibration stability of train bridge system, and the energy increment criterion for derailment evaluation is put forward. With the calculation model and the energy increment criterion for derailment evaluation, three derailment cases of freight train on bridges are analyzed. The calculated results coincide with the fact, which manifests that it is feasible to apply the simulation method of derailment and theory of random energy analysis for train derailment to analyze train derailment on bridges.
