NSCLC: Exploring the Robust States of the Endogenous Molecular-cellular Network

Published: 11 December 2021 Publication History

Abstract

Lung cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) being the dominant subtype of the disease. Many biomedicine studies fail to explain the apparent inconsistencies between the genes and the phenotypes. The spontaneous improvement of cancer has not yet been explained by a reasonable theory. A hypothesized theory from the perspective of systems biology has been proposed, in which cancer is considered to be a result of interactions among multiple conserved modules and factors in an endogenous molecular-cellular network. In this work, we conduct a model study in which NSCLC is described by a set of nonlinear dynamical equations. We show that the network can reproduce two heterogeneous subtypes of NSCLC. The topological landscape obtained from the modeling can help to resolve the above inconsistencies and help to prevent and treat NSCLC.
