Analyzing the Students' Learning within a Container-based Virtual Laboratory for Cybersecurity

Published: 16 October 2019 Publication History

Abstract

Practical environments are key elements within the learning process of any Engineering subject. They are used so that students learn practical competences, and to support their development of an applied critical thinking. Particularly, when it comes to a distance methodology, the employment of these tools is very relevant, since students are not face-to-face in classroom. In this sense, the use of Learning Analytics (LA) techniques becomes even more essential for improving the learning/teaching process. This work focuses on the proposal and analysis of a container-based virtual laboratory for cybersecurity activities, from the point of view of the students' behavior and their outcomes. In addition to this, the factors that influence the students' acceptance in the subject are analyzed. The study has been comparatively performed with a previous academic year.
