Fusion: The Dawn of the Hyperconvergence Era in EDA

Published: 04 April 2019 Publication History

Abstract

Hyperconvergence is a software-centric architecture which has disrupted the datacenter industry in a dramatic way by bringing the disparate areas of compute, storage and networking into a single system. A hyperconverged system allows the integrated technologies to be managed as a single system through a common tool set. By overcoming the barriers to change and progress created by traditional silos, the hyperconverged infrastructures have been delivering major benefits in terms of power consumption, performance and total cost of ownership.
This talk will explore how the concepts of hyperconvergence can be translated and applied to the Electronic Design Automation industry and in particular IC implementation to deliver unique benefits to the users. The fusion of technologies and convergence of flows can enable unprecedented improvements in chip performance, power consumption, die-area, total throughput and cost of results for high-end digital designs. Bringing disparate areas like logic synthesis, IC layout, test and sign-off analysis into a single unified hyperconverged architecture promises to elevate IC design results and productivity to the next level.
