Capturing and Analyzing Service Network Models

Published: 02 December 2013 Publication History

Abstract

The composition of services offered and consumed over the Internet results in complex environments comprising multiple service-based applications, referred to as Service Networks (SNs). Understanding the role of a service as part of an SN requires modeling techniques allowing to express and analyze its integration within the network. This paper presents a relationship-based framework for capturing and analyzing Service Network models. It uses business process specifications and service descriptions to generate an explicit cross-application relationship model. Based on predefined structural rules, the framework validates the completeness of the model and informs on inconsistency issues.
