Challenges in creating multimedia instructions for support systems and dynamic problem-solving

Published: 05 September 2012 Publication History

Abstract

For the operation of complex machinery and technical troubleshooting employees need to possess considerable skills and work experience. Modern international companies face the problem, how to distribute expertise from the headquarter to their branches all over world. Multimedia knowledge platforms can be intelligent solutions to provide remote employees with the information they need. After outlining the pedagogic concepts of work-based and multimedia learning, this paper defines requirements for the authoring tool, the metadata and the client application of a such a system.
