Visualizing ontologies with UML-like notation

Published: 17 October 2010 Publication History

Abstract

Since the advent of the Web Ontology Language (OWL), there have been multiple alternatives for graphically visualizing OWL ontologies, including UML profiles for OWL. However, current approaches are either verbose or do not represent every OWL construct visually. The paper builds on top of existing approaches and proposes a visualization for OWL ontologies that mixes the UML class diagram notation with a graph-based notation. The result is a clear visualization of OWL ontologies.
