Design of service level agreements for software services

Published: 18 June 2009 Publication History

Abstract

During last years, Quality of Service (QoS) aspects in service-based applications tend to be more and more challenging issues. The paper is focused on various aspects of QoS contracts and especially on these being parts of Service Level Agreements (SLAs). SLA parameters present statements about the levels of services' quality which should be agreed between the service requestors and providers. There are discussed drawbacks of modern approaches for SLA modelling and, based on that, several requirements for a formal, machine readable SLA language are given. The Design by Contract methodology is principally proposed to be used for SLA construction due to its well proven benefits in effective contract specifications.
