Abstract
Although it originated at Texas A&M University in the United States, the Scholastic Programming Contest has quickly evolved into an annual event attracting worldwide interest and participation.
For the past several years, the Contest Steering Committee has been working to expand the contest's sphere of opportunity within the ACM community. The ultimate goal is to provide students of the computing sciences at every university in the world with a chance to participate in the contest.
To accomplish this very ambitious task, a coordinated effort among ACM volunteers on a global scale must be established as part of the contest infrastructure. This panel session will trace the globalized growth of the contest and discuss many of the issues which must be addressed in order to make the ACM Scholastic Programming Contest sponsored by AT&T EasyLink Services the premiere event of its kind in the world.
