The influence of internet hypes on multimedia information retrieval research

Abstract

This panel will address the phenomena around various Internet hypes, such as Twitter messaging service, search platforms like Google, or content sharing and social networking platforms like YouTube or Flickr, and discuss the influence these hypes have on the nature, relevance and long-term impact of the research conducted in the multimedia information retrieval community.
