Abstract

El-Regeita shear zone occurs at south central Sinai massif attains the interest of many authors due the occurrence and mining of copper mineralization. The highest radiometric measurements of eU up to 130 ppm and eTh 34.5 ppm are recorded in diorite dikes, whereas eU and eTh reached up to 15 and 54.2 ppm in monzogranite, respectively. On the other hand, quartz monzonite and granodiorite as well as andesite dikes are generally possess the lowest eU, eTh-contents. The studied monzogranite and diorite dikes are enriched in U and Th minerals (thorite and uranothorite) as well as zircon and monazite in addition to wakefieldite that enclosed fine inclusion of uranothorite and thorite, respectively. These minerals give rise to anomalous radioactive zones. The investigated copper mineralization is chalcocite, covellite, bornite, and chalcopyrite as well as barite and titanite were restricted to the monzogranite intrusion and diorite dikes having NW–SE trend.
