Abstract
A compact planar triple-band metamaterial antenna is proposed and developed in this paper. Proposed metamaterial antenna consists of rectangular type complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) and meandered line inductor. Complementary closed ring resonator (CCRR) is introduced to achieve an extra resonant mode. This antenna offers triple-band operation at 2.02–2.14, 4.26–4.28, and 5.45–5.56 GHz with good impedance matching. These resonant modes are provided by the CSRR, CCRR and patch respectively. The electrical size of the antenna is 0.315 λ0 × 0.280 λ0 × 0.011 λ0. It achieves average antenna gain of 1.87, 2.90 and 4.13 dB at first, second and third bands respectively. Proposed antenna is suitable for modern wireless communication systems.
