Correction to: Archives of Toxicology (2019) 93:3635–3638 https://doi.org/10.1007/s00204-019-02609-0

We report a mistake in the tables published in the original article. In Tables 1 and 2, the random effects mentioned were inaccurate, as they were different from those used for data analysis. We regret this error and the misinterpretations it may have caused, such as the comment by Plewis (2020), where he makes the point that the hierarchical structure of the data should be accounted for. It is noteworthy that our revised analysis (in the original article) was conducted with random intercepts, which were nested where appropriate, to take into account the hierarchical structure of our data, in which observations from some animals were not independent because they shared parents or grandparents. Tables 1 and 2 should be as follows:

Table 1 LMMs describing factors associated with the pre-implantation loss rate in control and GBH-exposed F1 female rats
Table 2 LMMs describing factors associated with feto-placental parameters of F2 offspring from control and GBH-exposed F1 female rats

To sum up, the results obtained in our re-analysis which are shown in our comment (in the original article) are the definite ones and our conclusions are maintained.
