Abstract

This paper is about KIDS (Knowledge-based Image Diagnosis System), a knowledge-based system to assist the human diagnosis of cytological specimen. After a short state of the art, we describe the expertise involved in the exploration of cytological specimen. MAPS (Multi-Agent Problem Solver) is afterwards rapidly presented, as defining a generic environment for multi-agent system design. Modelling of medical expertise is then presented : the global architecture of KIDS is firstly described, followed by a precise description of the agent role, resources and behaviour. We finally discuss the present state of the system as well as the existing human-computer interaction facilities.
