Abstract

In smart grid networks, cyber security issues have become one of the most critical challenges due to using different communication networks connected to many devices remotely to control power stations, which may result in various potential threats. Any alteration of data or information created by the smart grid network could lead to serious technical or financial failures or losses. Electric power infrastructure and ICT devices are interdependent in smart grid networks, so there is a massive demand to develop cyber security measures to avoid data corruption by various cyber threats. This paper aims to discuss the features and components of the smart grid network and the cyber vulnerabilities associated with this service. One of the most significant features of a smart grid network is its availability, which various cyber threats can challenge. This paper attempts to focus on the cyber threats to power infrastructure and show the relevance of cyber security.
