Summary
A database-machine and a Local Area Network have been added to the decentralized computer-systems of the Technical University Aachen Hospital as important support to the information-system. From this addition, under a logical aspect, a central information component is built which holds, maintaines and provides access to commonly required data, and also provides a message-system. This concept pays respect to the autonomy of every department, who may run hard- and software of their own choice. For the problem of maintaining distributed software a solution is presented. The simplicity of the interface-protocol partially compensates for the lack of high-level ISO-OSI protocols as part of the computers’ operating-systems of today.
Zusammenfassung
Die im Klinikum der RWTH Aachen vorhandenen dezentralen Rechner-Systeme wurden ergänzt urn einen Datenbank-Rechner und ein lokales Netzwerk zur leistungsfähigen UnterstUtzung des Informationssystems. Aus dieser Ergänzung wird logisch gesehen eine Zentrale Auskunfts-Komponente gebildet, die allgemein benötigte Daten zentral hält, pflegt und zusammen mit einem Nachrichten-System zur Verfügung stellt. Der so gewählte Entwurf nimmt Rücksicht auf die weitgehende Autonomie der einzelnen Abteilungen bei Auswahl und Betrieb inrer Hard- und Software. Über eine Lösung des wartungsproblems bei verteilter Software wird berichtet. Das Fehlen der höheren ISO-OSI-Protkolle in den heute verfügbaren Betriebssystemen konnte teilweise wettgemacht werden durch die Einfachheit des Schnittstellen-Protokolls.
