Abstract

This paper proposes an intelligent scheme to enhance Quality of Service for video streaming over IP networks. The idea is to discard packets intelligently at a router in Active Networks (AN) before the buffer is full. This paper also presents an AN-based network node architecture to support the proposed scheme. Our simulation results show that it improves not only the visual quality per video stream but also network efficiency significantly.
