Abstract

This contribution focusses on an innovative IT-based decision support concept for turning on Germany’s energy transition. Considering the historical development of renewable energy in Germany over the last 20 years, the success story of green energy has to be interpreted to understand Germanys beginning energy transition. Being a core part of the actual electricity economy, renewable energy sources are still discussed and consequently bring new challenges for the interaction with the energy system itself. By modeling the latest project “Nord.Link” within the actual electricity system with the help of System Dynamics, the active public should be able to understand the complex interactions. System Dynamics modeling supports the comprehension about the main interdependencies related to the successful market integration of new sustainable technologies, which are essential for Germanys energy transition in the next 20 years. Therefore it can be mentioned that System Dynamics is trying turning on the energy transition process in Germany. This contribution focusses especially on the IT-based decision support component.
