Abstract
As urban development progresses, rapid urbanization has disrupted original community structures and social relationships, leading to a decline in community cohesion and estrangement among neighbors. To address this, it is essential to enhance community interaction and cooperation to revitalize community vitality. Participatory design, as an effective approach, can fully engage residents’ enthusiasm and participation, fostering interactive learning and continuous communication. It advocates for community issues to be resolved by internal community forces, ultimately achieving community self-management. However, sustainable community development is a dynamic process that requires ongoing adaptation and adjustment to various present circumstances. This paper aims to investigate how the level of designer involvement in participatory design impacts the effectiveness of sustainable community development, and how to effectively coordinate relationships among stakeholders to promote long-term community prosperity and harmony.
