Abstract
Shape coding is coded with different shapes so that the controllers could be de-signed with different shapes and patterns for different functions. It is widely used in industrial product design and man-machine interface design that needs visual or tactile to identify or distinguish control devices quickly. Through the shape coding identification experiment of manual polygonal rotary knob, the influence of shape coding on identification rate and identification time were focused in this study. The correct identification rate and identification time for paired manual ro-tary polygonal knobs with different shapes were obtained.
