Abstract

In this paper we present a complete environment for hardware prototyping of generic fuzzy controller architectures. The system specification is based on a generic VHDL module library which is handled by an integrated source- and documentation administration tool. The targeted hardware emulator has been enhanced with off-the-shelf memory to overcome the inherent memory limitations of the FPGA-based platform. The implementation of a Midpoint-of-Area-Defuzzification unit (MOA) demonstrates the feasibility of this approach.
