Abstract

Alpha du Centaur is an interactive environment for the design of regular VLSI parallel integrated circuits. It is based on Alpha, a restricted functional language whose definition is well-suited to express the specification of an algorithm and also its execution on a synchronous parallel architecture. Programs, written in Alpha, are rewritten using formal transformations (space-time reindexing, pipelining, etc.), and finally translated into a form suited to conventional VLSI design tools. Our demonstration will show the current state of development of Alpha du Centaur, and will illustrate its use on classical systolic algorithms.

This work was partially funded by the French Coordinated Research Program C 3 and by the Esprit BRA project NANA.
